Test review: CDT Audio ES-62i

Should a sax sound like a sax? Should you be able to hear the bassist's fingers dance down the neck of his Fender Precision? And what about hearing and feeling the impact of a rim shot? Hey, if hi-fi audio is your goal, you should be able to hear all of this stuff and more. The CDTAUDIO sound doesn't fatigue; there's just music-effortless, untiring, and above all, clear. The ES-62i have no annoying mid-bass boom like most stock speakers. And the bass was real, the treble crystalline, the sound transparent. This stuff is serious high fidelity. The ES-62i drivers are actually none other than the highly regarded HD separates, also from CDTAUDIO. The main difference between the HD’s and the separates in the ES is the Kevlar mix/fiberglass cone mid-woofer and the crossovers.
This speaker is about music, not gimmicks. We're talkin' sweet sax, accurate bass, and real piano. ES-04 Mid Bass Speaker 

The main goal of CDT GOLD is to interpret and provide superior solutions to the acoustical situations characteristic of car audio. The devil is in the details and so is the magic. These fabulously smooth, keval mixed fabric fiberglass, and treated paper black coned beauties extract all the music and add no coloration to that sound. They start and stop on a dime for the most lucid recreation of the musical experience.

From rap to rock they are on top, and the rendering of serious classical profundities is also exquisite.Utilizing a rubber edge and soft polymer dust-cap these drivers create and absorb vibratory waves with astonishing control.

 

A magnetic system utilizing a shorting ring above the pole piece lowers modulation distortion to new lows. The smaller 04 has amazing bass control for a compact 4” mid-woofer. The Fs of nearly 60 Hz gives marvelous extension in compact situations. This driver can reach nearly 10 kHz when run full range also. As a rear-fill and accent “front” fill speaker in this mode it is also ideal. A great four for any door and kick pod install. Possibly the best four inch mid-woofer for general use in existence.
